Botanical Name: Anthurium
Common Name: Flamingo Flower
Flower: Red, pink and white
Features: Originating from tropical regions of Central and South America, they're adored for their beautiful flowers and glossy green leaves. The "flowers" of these plants are actually modified leaves known as Spathes.
Light: Bright, indirect light. They do not tolerate direct light. Direct light can cause bleaching of the leaves.
Water: Water when 1/2 – 3/4 of the soil volume is dry, water until it flows through the drainage hole at the bottom. Do not leave sitting in drainage.
Temperature: Normal household temperature is good
Humidity: High humidity levels are required. Mist frequently, use pebble trays and group with other humidity loving plants.
Fertilizer: Monthly with a balanced houseplant fertilizer during spring and summer. Stop fertilizing in the fall and winter.
Harmful to pets?: Yes. The best practice is always to keep houseplants out of reach of small children and pets.
