Botanical Name: Tillandisia xerographica
Common Name: Air Plant
Features: These unique plants are popular due to their low maintenance needs and ability to grow without soil. A member of the Bromeliad family means they’re also related to Pineapple!
Light: Bright, indirect light.
Water: Watering methods are misting, soaking or dunking. Misting – using a spray bottle, mist the plant.Soaking – Immerse the plant in water for 20-30 minutes. Dunking – quickly submerge the plant in water. The frequency of watering varies by species, environmental conditions and time of year. Generally, they should be watered every 1-2 weeks. Gently shake or tap after watering to remove any excess water. Leaving water can cause rot.
Temperature: Prefer temperatures between 10-32°C
Humidity: Prefer humidity levels between 40-60% making them excellent additions to terrariums and bathrooms.
Fertilizer: Monthly apply a diluted liquid Air Plant or Orchid fertilizer in spring and summer.
Harmful to pets?: No. These plants are safe for pets and children. The best practice is always to keep houseplants out of reach of small children and pets.
